Mahalo is pleased to announce its first Startup Certification Internship Program. Over the course of ten weeks, students will experience the ins and outs of “startup life,” learning first-hand lessons about building a new technology brand. Each student will learn how to spot emerging trends on the Web, set and implement editorial standards, track progress using analytical tools, build and manage an online community, recruit new users, apply social media best practices, run a corporate blog, leverage advertising and produce original video content. All of this will be done while actually helping launch a new Mahalo product. As a bonus, each intern that passes the rigorous ten week program will be invited to the TechCrunch 50 startup conference and competition as a guest of organizer and Mahalo CEO Jason Calacanis. Plus, interns will be included on an episode of the popular new web series “This Week in Startups,” discussing their insights and discoveries made within the program.

To be considered for this exciting opportunity fill out the application form here and email your resume to danielle@mahalo.com.

That form requires an @mahalo.com login, is this the login from mahalo’s community?

  2. Evan Says:

Yeah what gives… I think somebody used Google Docs to create a form but didn’t make it public to visitors outside of the @mahalo.com domain.

  3. Jen Says:

Is this an inperson internship at Mahalo’s offices or a virtual one? IE where do applicants have to be based for consideration?

  4. Ronny Islam Says:

I’m seeing the same thing as A. – Link for form takes me to Mahalo google apps login.

    Hey Jason!

This looks FANTASTIC. I wish I was living in the area so I could participate. You should make it so that each of the interns has to run their own video blog/journal throughout the experience so we can follow them through their time with Mahalo. I’d really enjoy seeing what they learn. Either that, or turn it into a weekly video series show like you did the Mahalo Daily host competition.

Best of luck! It’s great seeing someone giving amazing opportunities like this.

  6. Bill Hartzer Says:

Sounds like a great opportunity. I’m assuming that you’ll have to be able to travel to California for this?

This has been asked already, but will this be done remotely?

  9. Lon Says:

Thanks Derek for help with the link. The link in the application should work now as well.

  10. Lon Says:

Thank you everyone! I want to answer a few of the popular questions.

The internship program is for college CREDIT only.

While we one day hope to expand it to remote interns in the future, we are currently accepting applications from local candidates.

    The internship is unpaid.

Thank you to everyone for their applications and resumes! We should be contacting interviewees at the beginning of next week.
